Infrastructural and test engineering requirements for mixed loads to evaluate the insulation coordination for HVDC networks

Funding period: 2017 - 2018

The feasibility study addresses the topic of test engineering for networks and components of high-voltage direct current transmission (HVDC). The study focuses on possibilities for generating mixed voltage stresses for HVDC transmission equipment. Based on operating scenarios, general requirements are derived which allow to generate realistic overvoltages reproducibly in the laboratory. This provides the theoretical basis for the evaluation of HVDC transmission equipment under real operating conditions.
